My favorite family memories
are linked with food.
My mother was a wonderful cook.
As early as I could stand on a chair, I helped my mother, Nana and Great Aunt in the kitchen preparing for holiday meals.
My favorite job was measuring the ingredients for, and then stirring the béchamel sauce for what seemed like an eternity, to make the family tradition baked macaroni, with the lengthy tube noodles my Mother procured from an Italian market deep in New York City’s Little Italy.
Each year I pretended I was on a secret military expedition, accompanying my father to pick up the wonderfully moist and pink smoked salmon and other smoked fish, as well as the pre-ordered oversized brown paper bags of steamy, fresh bagels for Yom Kippur break-fast, then watching with fascination as my Father and Uncle masterfully sliced the bagels into an enormous hand-crafted wooden container used only for this sacred fasting holiday, known lovingly as “the bagel bowl.”
I continued my love for cooking in college at Northwestern, preparing family-style meals for my housemates and food for parties we held. I further honed my culinary and entertaining skills feeding friends on weekends at the beach in Marina del Rey, CA, and for over a decade as a partner and Senior Creative Producer for a Film and TV marketing agency in Beverly Hills (known for creating the Seinfeld DVD series) frequently preparing lunches for our large staff and ever visiting studio clients.
But it was preparing meals for my father when he was ill in Florida, that I truly connected my passion and love for entertaining, cooking, and making people happy.
Prior to his tenures as Catering and Special Events Manager at Urban Green Cuisine in Los Angeles, an eco-friendly social entrepreneurship catering agency - Line Cook at Los Gatos CA’s New American Restaurant Oak and Rye - Sous Chef at the Bay Area’s Premiere Spanish Tapas restaurant, Los Gatos’ Pintxo Pote, featuring authentic Basque specialties from the San Sebastian region of Spain, and Manager of the Saratoga Little League Food Stand, Robert had an extensive award-winning career as a professional storyteller and marketer with the distinctive fusion of creative and business experience-building awareness and producing revenue. Coming from a hands-on Film and TV Marketing background having produced a wide range of media for Entertainment Studios, Production Companies, Agencies, and Independent Content Creators, Robert has brought world-class creative and project management to all his endeavors across digital platforms, traditional media, experiential, event production, and internal communications.
Born and raised in Long Island New York, Robert attended Northwestern University, double majoring in Political Science and Radio TV and Film. After graduating as President of the Political Science Honor Society, featured DJ on the radio station WNUR, Lacrosse mid-fielder, and writer, producer, and editor of numerous local cable and University projects, Robert moved to Los Angeles and began a career in the film and television creative marketing industry eventually editing, writing and producing hundreds of film and television campaigns.
Robert was Partner and Senior Creative Producer of Winston Davis & Associates (WDA) a leading entertainment marketing agency known for some of the most successful Home Entertainment campaigns in Hollywood history, including the Seinfeld on DVD series.
Robert began his professional culinary training while helming WDA where he enrolled in a yearlong program of multi-tiered classic and modern cooking training at the NEW SCHOOL OF COOKING in Culver City, CA the only independent, state-approved culinary school in Los Angeles, which was established in 1999.
Following his tenure at WDA, Robert was the owner and Senior Creative Executive of Illumin8 Creative, a full-service creative agency specializing in producing shoots, motion graphics, and creative content for digital and traditional media. Robert fed his staff well.
